YCWA High Point released a new report on racial disparities in the city. The Racial Equity Scorecard looks at gaps in wealth, education, public safety, and health between Black and white families. Developed by Dr. Stephen J. Sills, the Scorecard aims to address racial disparities in High Point, NC, stemming from historical policies. It offers crucial data for strategic planning, policy-making, and resource allocation. The Scorecard suggests various initiatives: promoting inclusive community policing, expanding homeownership and fair lending, developing affordable housing, improving healthcare access, promoting digital inclusion, enhancing prenatal care, expanding job opportunities, addressing systemic racism in schools, improving public transportation, and enhancing voter registration efforts. These recommendations are designed to foster equity and improve the quality of life for Black residents in High Point.
